Brazilian aviation giant Embraer and Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI) have joined hands to collaborate on research, development, and production for both civil and military aircraft.
Turkish Aerospace Industries aims to leverage its strategic capabilities in the production and assembly of metallic and composite structures, fuselage components, test and production flights, and final assembly processes including painting.
The agreement also outlines the framework for a comprehensive industrial partnership potential between Embraer and Turkish Aerospace Industries, which includes cooperation in R&D.
Announcing the partnership Thursday, Turkish Industry and Technology Minister Mehmet Fatih Kacir said the agreement builds on discussions held during a visit to Brazil last September.
Embraer and Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI) signed, on Tuesday (01/04), a memorandum of understanding to promote innovation, technology and new products in the civil and defense sectors in both countries.
The two companies officially signed a memorandum of understanding at the LAAD 2025 Defense Fair, taking place this week in Rio de Janeiro, paving the way for joint projects in aviation.
"This agreement will serve as the foundation for shared R&D and production efforts on civil and military platforms," Kacir wrote on X.
"We are committed to strengthening the global influence of the Turkish aviation industry through international partnerships," he added.
The partnership focuses on E2 aircraft production opportunities and advancing research and development capabilities.
TAI highlighted the importance of the deal, stating that it will enhance cooperation between the two firms, create new opportunities in engineering and R&D, and further boost Türkiye's presence in the global aerospace sector.
Embraer says that it is actively seeking new suppliers and partners worldwide to meet growing demand for its products and sees this collaboration as an opportunity to expand its global footprint.
“Embraer is excited about these significant opportunities with Turkish Aerospace. Their expertise in aerospace manufacturing and assembly aligns perfectly with our strategic goals. This MoU marks a significant step towards exploring innovative solutions and expanding our global footprint,” says Francisco Gomes Neto, President and CEO, Embraer.
According to a press statement, Mustafa Gursoy, Executive VP of Turkish Aerospace, and Francisco Gomes Neto, President and CEO, Embraer, signed the agreement in the presence of high-ranking officials including Brazil’s Vice-President Geraldo Alckmin and Türkiye’s Deputy Minister of Industry and Technology Muhammet Kasım Gonullu.
“This memorandum marks a significant milestone for the Turkish defence and aerospace industry. Through our collaboration with Embraer, we aim to further enhance our technological capabilities and shape the future of aviation. By combining our strengths, we are not only building for today but also laying the foundation for the aviation ecosystem of tomorrow,” says Mehmet Demiroğlu, CEO, Turkish Aerospace.
