The aircraft departed Palma de Mallorca Airport at approximately 2:40 a.m. local time on Tuesday and had been airborne for around 50 minutes when the flight crew decided to divert to Milan Malpensa Airport (MXP) in northern Italy. Flight tracking data showed the aircraft changing course before landing safely in Milan.
LOT Polish Airlines confirmed that the diversion was triggered by a medical emergency involving one of the crew members.
Airline spokesperson Krzysztof Moczulski said the captain requested immediate medical assistance after the crew member collapsed during the flight.
"The plane was diverted to Milan for medical reasons. Due to the collapse of one of the crew members, the captain requested medical assistance. After landing, assistance was immediately provided."
Emergency medical personnel met the aircraft upon arrival at Milan Malpensa, where the affected crew member received prompt medical attention.
Polish broadcaster TVN24 reported that the crew member who became incapacitated may have been one of the flight's pilots. However, LOT Polish Airlines did not confirm the identity or role of the affected crew member when asked by the media.

Following the unscheduled landing, passengers remained in Milan for several hours while LOT Polish Airlines organized a replacement crew to continue the journey to Warsaw.
