Boeing emerged as one of the biggest winners of the show's opening day after SMBC Aviation Capital announced a commitment for 100 Boeing aircraft, providing a significant boost to the manufacturer's order book.
The U.S. airframer also secured a commitment from Riyadh Air for 28 Boeing 787 Dreamliners, further strengthening its position in the long-haul widebody market.
Boeing and Philippine Airlines announced a commitment on the opening day of the 2026 Farnborough International Airshow for the purchase of up to 20 Boeing 787-10 Dreamliners, marking what is set to become the largest widebody aircraft order in the airline's history.
Airbus also recorded an important commercial victory, with Riyadh Air confirming an order for six additional Airbus A350-1000s, increasing the Saudi carrier's total A350 fleet commitment to 31 aircraft. The additional aircraft will support the airline's expanding long-haul international network.

Airbus Helicopters revealed that Saudi Arabia's The Helicopter Company (THC) had ordered eight additional H145 helicopters, expanding its fleet for emergency medical services, utility and special mission operations.
In the United Kingdom, the National Police Air Service (NPAS) confirmed an order for two additional Airbus H135 helicopters, which will support police aviation missions across the country.

This year's Farnborough also reflects the growing importance of the defense sector. Lockheed Martin has unveiled its new Patriot Advanced Capability-3 Adapted Capability Effector (PAC-3 ACE) interceptor for the Patriot air defense system during the Farnborough International Airshow 2026.
Approximately half of the show's 1,600 exhibitors represent defense and security companies, with particular emphasis on autonomous systems, advanced military aircraft, artificial intelligence, drones and next-generation defense technologies.
