Horror at Denver Airport : Frontier Plane kills an individual walking on the Runway while taking-off.

  • Frontier Airlines and federal investigators are reviewing how a person reached an active runway at Denver International Airport before being struck during a takeoff roll.
  • The incident happened on May 8, 2026, during a Los Angeles-bound departure and immediately raised questions about perimeter security at one of the largest airfields in the United States.
  • The ground incident, involving Frontier Airlines Flight 4345 on Runway 17L, occurred at approximately 10:15 p.m.LT.
  • The collision prompted the cockpit to abort the take-off, resulting in an engine fire and smoke entering the cabin.

A Frontier Airlines Airbus A321-271NX aircraft (N646FR) operating flight 4345 struck and killed a pedestrian on the runway at Denver International Airport as it prepared for takeoff late Friday night, authorities confirmed.

Air traffic audio and local reporting indicate the crew rejected the takeoff after the collision, with emergency responders moving onto the runway while operations in the immediate area were halted.

The fatal ground incident caused a brief engine fire and all 231 passengers and crew were evacuated from the plane.

The person jumped over an outside fence and just two minutes later found herself on the runway, where she was hit by a plane. The Frontier Airlines flight was scheduled to depart from Denver for Los Angeles at around 11 p.m. local time.

Denver International Airport (DIA) said the deceased person is not believed to be an airport employee and has not yet been identified.

"DEN can confirm the pedestrian jumped the perimeter fence and was hit just two minutes later while crossing the runway. The pedestrian is deceased, and is not believed to be an employee of the airport nor have they been identified."

" The airport inspected the fence and determined it was undamaged ," the statement said. Frontier Airlines said: "We deeply regret this incident."

Following the accident, the Denver Fire Department quickly extinguished the engine fire. Smoke was seen in the cabin, and as a precaution, everyone on board was evacuated via emergency slides.

Twelve passengers reported minor injuries during the incident, and five were transported to nearby hospitals. The runway was closed while the Federal Aviation Administration conducted an investigation.

" We are extremely sorry for this incident and express our condolences to all those affected ," Denver Airport said in a statement.

The tough question is how a person could reach the active surface of a major airport without being intercepted before a takeoff roll began. International irports spend heavily on surveillance, but the Denver incident shows that perimeter security is only as strong as its weakest sensor, gate, patrol route or response time.
