Thats true ! Mayhem continues ! COVID-19 pandemic Killed another carrier , Just after a couple of years of the inauguration ,Danish Great Dane Airlines has given up and filed for bankruptcy.
It's Social media handle gives a depressive picture by saying, the airline was unable to tackle the challenges presented by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
The carrier took it to the Facebook and said,
“Great Dane Airlines has gone bankrupt today. We have battled through the corona times, but can unfortunately not fly anymore. Thank you to the many guests who have flown with us. Thanks to our co-operation partners,”
The Scandinavian regional carrier, that was established in the year 2018, offered charter flights for a range of Danish tour operators and travel agencies, starting with fleet of two 118-seat Embraer 195 aircrafts, bought from Stobart Air, staffed by eight pilots and twelve cabin crew.
The carrier operated its maiden flight on 14 June 2019, which was a charter flight from Aalborg to Rhodes, while its first scheduled flight was from Aalborg to Dublin on 21st June 2019.
The airline was initially co-owned by 'Thomas Hugo Møller' and by 'Huy Duc Nguyen', who withdrew from his position as a board member, executive and owner in March 2019 after a newspaper revealed exaggerations in his résumé.
In March 2019, Danish billionaire 'Eigild Bødker Christensen' invested in Great Dane Airlines, leaving Great Dane Airlines co-owned by Thomas Hugo Møller (10%) and Eigild Bødker Christensen (90%).
As Pandemic battered the air travel, Between September 2020 and May 2021, the airline wet-leased two of its aircraft to startup airline Bamboo Airways.
Atlast, on 11th October 2021, the decision was made, Great Dane Airlines filed for bankruptcy and ceased it's operations.
Liquidity and investment was always an issue with the carrier, incurring losses of 25.3 million kroner in 2019 and then over 50 million kroner in 2020, the regional airline was on a down fall, thanks to historic Covid-19.
Eigild Bødker Christensen told BT tabloid that the company was facing monthly losses of 5 million kroner over the winter ; and decided it was best to call it a day now.
