After a Boeing B777 from the fleet was detained at Kuala Lumpur airport over lease dispute, Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has landed itself in another trouble , and this time , it has received a final warning from the Riyadh Airport Authority (RAA) regarding the non-payment of dues.

That's not all ! The RAA has set a deadline of July 15 for PIA to pay the outstanding amount of 8.2 million riyals. Failure to meet the deadline could potentially affect the airline's winter flight schedule.

Additionally, PIA has been cautioned by the Jeddah Airport for non-payment of liabilities. A spokesperson for PIA confirmed the issuance of the reminder and stated that the airline is actively working towards making the payment and resolving the issue promptly.

On May 30, 2023 , Malaysia seized Pakistan Airlines-PIA aircraft at Kuala Lumpur airport over lease dispute. That was for the second time, a Boeing 777 aircraft which had been acquired by PIA on lease from Malaysia, was being seized due to unpaid dues of $4 million.

Now, Reports suggest, the Riyadh airports authority has sent a letter to the PIA administration to clear six-month dues by July 15 , 2023. The authority has further mentioned in the letter that Pakistan International Airlines owes over SAR 8.2 million in dues, for the charges and other services availed by the carrier.

If the Pakistani Flag bearer fails to make the payment by the deadline, the RAA has warned that it could affect the airline’s winter flight schedule.

As PIA is getting warned for non-payment of liabilities by the Jeddah Airport,  Riyadh airport authority has set a condition to approve PIA’s winter flight slot after the clearance of the dues, otherwise, the winter slot of the airline will be affected.

Sources added that the General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) also issued a warning to the PIA.The PIA spokesperson confirmed that a reminder was issued by the Riyadh airport authority for the clearance of dues.

However , it's being learned that the PIA is in the process of making the payment and they hope to resolve the issue with RAA soon.
