Montgomery Regional Airport has Resumed Its Operations After Industrial Accident Of Piedmont Airlines Ground Crew Getting Sucked Into Engine.

The Montgomery Regional Airport (MGM) has reporting an industrial accident that happened on Saturday, December 31, around 3 p.m. An American Airlines/Piedmont Airlines ground crew employee was involved in a fatality.

 

It is being learned that the employee lost his life in an accident involving one of the airplane’s engines that was running. Aircraft involved was an American Eagle Embraer ERJ-175 (Regd. N264NN).

 

 

To avoid such occurrences and promote awareness of engine inlet hazard zones and provide ground personnel with a visual definition of the zones, operators also paint engine inlet hazard zone boundaries on ramp surfaces at parking locations.

 

“We are saddened to hear about the tragic loss of a team member of the AA/Piedmont Airlines, said Wade A. Davis, Executive Director of MGM. “Our thoughts and prayers are with the family during this difficult time.”

 

Initially, all flights outbound and inbound via MGM had been grounded until further notice, which were resumed later in the evening.

 
 

Montgomery Regional Airport (MGM) said ,

MGM has resumed normal operations as of 8:30 pm this evening. Our thoughts and prayers are with the AA/Piedmont Airlines/employee’s family and ground crew. The FAA investigation of Piedmonts tragic accident continues.

 

American said in a statement it was devastated by the accident, which it confirmed involved an employee of Piedmont.

“We are focused on ensuring that all involved have the support they need during this difficult time.”
