Post Brexit , Britain's workforce has shrunk due to a slowdown in immigration and after thousands of Aviation workers took early retirement or simply left the labour market during the pandemic.
In the First phase , carriers tried to poach each other's flight attendants to sail the post Pandemic recovery. But , that seemed to be less compared to the travel demand !
New Prime Minister Rishi Sunak on Monday rejected the business pleas for a loosening of immigration rules, companies are having to work harder and think differently to fill vacancies.
This has forced the U.K. based carrier easyjet to look for people who want a second inning in their career . easyJet has launched a recruitment drive aimed at people over the age of 45 to join their cabin crews.
The carrier said it has seen a 27% increase in cabin crew over the age of 45 in the last four years, including a 30% increase in people over 60 in the last year.
The new campaign follows research by easyJet which suggested most over-45s would like to take on a new challenge once their children have left home.
EasyJet said a crew recruitment programme some months ago had over 18,000 applications for about 2,000 roles, but it was still looking for more workers.
