All the dots are getting connected, and if war stops in the near future, they will be among the first to operate flights from Ukraine to multiple destinations in Europe.
We are talking about SuperNova Airlines, the cargo airline originating from Ukraine, that's making steady progress in complying regulatory obligations, has received official authorization from the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) to operate within the EU.
As per Bohdana Droniuk, the representative of International communications at NOVA group of companies, the next milestone is to begin long-haul flights connecting Europe with the United States and China.
Founded in 2021, SuperNova Airlines is part of the international group of companies NOVA, which offers logistics, financial, and IT services across Ukraine and globally. SuperNova Airlines, with its UA 062 Operator's Certificate, delivers cargo for Nova Post, a leading postal and logistics service provider in Eastern Europe.
On October 17, 2024, the airline obtained its Part-TCO permit, a requirement for non-European carriers, which grants SuperNova Airlines the ability to operate both commercial and charter flights across Europe.
Although relatively new, SuperNova Airlines is rapidly expanding. In May 2023, it completed its inaugural flight on the Riga - Rzeszow - Riga route using an ATR 72 aircraft in partnership with Latvia's RAF-Avia.
By September 2024, the company had conducted a certification flight with its own Boeing 737-800SF, under the flag of Ukraine and with Ukrainian registration marks UR-NPA, marking a crucial step toward the start of independent operations.
Yaroslav Krasnozhon, CEO of SuperNova Airlines, said :
“Previously, we managed Nova Post's cargo deliveries exclusively within Europe. Strategically, however, we aim to expand into long-haul routes between the United States, China, and Europe. Additionally, we are prepared to offer charter flights for third-party clients, fully leveraging the Boeing 737-800 SF’s capabilities.”
“Supernova's future fleet will include at least two wide-body freighters to serve the US and Chinese markets with sufficient frequencies and a reliable reserve. The shortage of the necessary aircraft on the market dictates certain tactics," says the website of SuperNova Airlines.
