Days After Renaming To "Federal Ministry of Aviation to the Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace" , Few Nigerian Aviation Industry CEOs May Lose Their Jobs.

In a drive to justify the new name in line with the nature of the sector, run under the exclusive management and regulation of the federal government, there are strong indications of a major shake-up in the near future.

Three days back , the Nigerian Federal Executive Council (FEC) approved the change of nomenclature of the Federal Ministry of Aviation to the Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace with immediate effect.

Current administration is going to end soon and within an week's time, the Min­isters of the Federation will hand over to Permanent Secretaries, but sources say that Hadi Sirika, the Minister of Aviation may carry out a re­shuffle exercise in most of the agencies in the sector very soon.

Sources say, a minimum of three of the CEOs may be relieved from their posts any moment from now, while some of the ex­isting directors may also be af­fected by the 'so called' cleaning drive.

To avoid these unforeseen firing from the job, the CEOs , those already aware of the plan, are making all the efforts to save the appointment.

Those CEOs in the list of removal might not have made it to the expectations of the Minister and maintained a frosty relation­ship with the minister during the previous year due to disagreements on the implementation of his road­map projects for the sector.

Some of the posts affected by this upcoming exercise could be the "Managing Director of the Fed­eral Airports Authority of Nige­ria" (FAAN), the "Director-General of the Nigeri­an Safety Investigation Bureau" (NSIB) and  the Acting Managing Director, "Nigerian Airspace Management Agency" (NAMA).

As mentioned earlier, the drive is not limited to the CEOs , It's also being learnt that some existing directors may also be affected by the impending purge or be redeployed to other directorates.

In another development , the Nigerian federal government announced last week that it has concessioned two international airports — the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja and the Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport , Kano for 20 and 30 years , respectively.
