Brussels Airlines is all set to expand its long-haul fleet with three Airbus A330 planes, bringing its fleet total to 13 Airbus A330s.
The carrier also plans to invest 100 million euros in brand new cabins as a revamp exercise in the fleet, it announced in a press conference in Diegem on Friday.
The new Airbus A330 planes will primarily be used to fly to destinations in Africa, where demand from emerging economies is increasing.
These new aircraft will also require additional 250 new employees including pilots, cabin crew, as well as ground handling staffs and technicians for aircraft maintenance.
The Belgian airline says it expects to be able to operate the first new A330 Airbus from mid-2025.
In another development, the company has signed a wet-lease agreement with Air Baltic, which will operate four Airbus A220s for Brussels Airlines from 2025, from March to October. These 148-seat aircraft will be used for regional routes.
As per sources, these three Airbus A330 planes will come from Lufthansa Group, however further details on the acqusition of the planes are yet to be revealed.
