On 4th October 2023 , Boeing officially opened an office in Jakarta and signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Indonesian Transportation Ministry on the sideline of the office’s inauguration to intensify cooperation in the aviation industry in the country.

Boeing [NYSE: BA] signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Indonesia’s Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) to explore initiatives aimed at strengthening Indonesia's aviation sector with a focus on flight safety, efficiency, and sustainability. The signing coincided with the inauguration of Boeing’s new permanent office in Jakarta.
In its statement released on October 5, the Indonesian Transportation Ministry welcomed the cooperation, considering it as an important step in increasing the capacity and sustainability of the Indonesian aviation industry.
The statement highlighted the establishment of a partnership with Boeing, as one of the important stakeholders in the aviation industry, will bring greater opportunities for economic and technological growth in the country.
Zaid Alami, country managing director of Boeing Indonesia said,
“Indonesia is home to one of the world’s largest aviation markets. The MoU with Indonesia’s DGCA and the opening of Boeing’s new permanent office in Jakarta further demonstrates our commitment to Indonesia and our customers while laying a strong foundation for future growth.”
Ambassador Sung Y. Kim spoke at the October 4 office opening ceremony for U.S. company Boeing, which recently completed a significant investment as part of its commitment to expanding its commercial relationship with Indonesia.
The new Boeing Indonesia office, located in Jakarta’s central business district, features traditional batik designs combined with artwork and imagery of Boeing products. The office was influenced by Boeing's Indonesian employees to create a collaborative, innovative work environment.
The ministry's Director of Airworthiness and Aircraft Operations M. Mauludin said that the MoU will help Indonesia to tackle challenges in the aviation industry such as supply chain and human resources. The two parties aim to develop quality human resources in the aviation sector which includes training and skills development.
The MoU covers some important aspects in the civil aviation sector, such as airworthiness, flight operations, increasing personnel capacity, air navigation services, air transportation, and sustainable aviation initiatives.

"Boeing has contributed over $8.5M in charitable contributions and grants to Indonesian communities, with a focus on sustainability, workforce preparation, health and wellness, early education and humanitarian efforts."
Moreover, the two parties will share knowledge and experience in technical aspects of aviation, including aviation safety and security, aircraft maintenance, and technological innovation.
For his part, Boeing's Vice President of Commercial Sales and Marketing Global Strategic Initiatives, John W. Bruns said the collaboration will mostly focus on joint efforts to improve aviation safety in Indonesia including information exchange, personnel training, and capacity improvement for Indonesia’s aviation industry.
The new Boeing office in Jakarta’s South Central Business District (SCBD), with dozens of newly-hired staff, is also home to a regional headquarters for the Boeing Engineering Global Support Center which provides engineering support for customers across Southeast Asia.
