On June 4, the European Union issued a document banning all Belarusian air carriers from flying in the airspace of the EU countries. It provides for a ban on take-off, landing, and overflight by Belarusian air carriers over the territory of the EU countries.

Later, seven more countries joined the EU decision. In exceptional cases, only humanitarian flights, as well as emergency or urgent landings, may be accepted.

The ban on the Belarusian airlines was due to the forced landing of Ryanair jet in Minsk and the arrest of journalists Raman Pratasevich and Sofia Sapiega, who were on board.
