Two Cessna 172M Skyhawk aircrafts , ZS-PXI of Skyhawk Aviation and ZS-OMN of Central Flying Academy collided mid air to kill all four occupants in Gauteng on Monday night , 26th April.
Reportedly , both the aircrafts were engaged in their training flights , when the horrifying collision took place.
Central Flying Academy is based at Rand Airport while Skyhawk Aviation is based at Lanseria International Airport, separated by a distance of 55 kilometer by Road.
Further investigation of the tragic accident is on. SACAA spokesperson, Kabelo Ledwaba, said the Civil Aviation Authority’s investigations unit was at the scene of the accident near Grasmere, Johannesburg.
An aircraft investigation is meant to determine the reason, or probable cause, of a crash and – if it is necessary – make safety recommendations that will help avoid similar accidents from the same causes, said Ledwaba.
“A preliminary report will be issued within 30 days from the date of this accident,” said the spokesperson.
