An year 2008 built small aircraft crashed after trying to land at an airport in the city of Ubatuba, on the north coast of Sao Paulo, Brazil, as it overshot the Runway end.

 

On January 9, 2025, a Cessna 525 CitationJet CJ1 Plus with registration PR-GFS was involved in a Runway excursion that resulted into an accident at Ubatuba Airport (UBT), Sao Paulo.

 
 

The aircraft did a Runway excursion with a high speed, crossed the perimeter fence of the Airport and an active road, coming to a rest on the beach, with an explosion.

 

On the search and rescue efforts, unfortunately, the pilot lost his life trapped in the wreckage, while four passengers were rescued alive but two injured passengers, an woman and a child, did not survive their injuries. Additionally, three people, on the nearby skating rink, were injured and are receiving medical treatment.

 

The aircraft crash occurred at around around 10:15 a.m. on Thursday, while it was trying to land on Runway 09 of the Airport.

 
 

As per sources, the Ubatuba Airport (UBT) has a single asphalted runway, designated as 09/27, with a total length of 940 meters.

 

As per the Aeronautical Information Publication (AIP), the first 380 meters of runway 09 are closed for aircraft landings. From the paved end of the runway 09, the Airport perimeter fence is at a distance of 135 meters.

 

The National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC) indicated that the plane was registered for private air services and did not have a permit for air taxi.

 

The Brazilian Air Force (FAB) has mobilized investigators from the Quarto Serviço Regional de Investigação e Prevenção de Acidentes Aeronáuticos (SERIPA IV) to examine the crash. This investigation will focus on collecting data, assessing damage, and determining the cause of the accident.
