Copa Airlines to purchase up to 60 Boeing B737 Max aircraft for a value of $13.5 bln

The flag carrier of Panama and a prominent member of the Star Alliance, Copa Airlines announced the signing of a new agreement with Boeing and GE Aerospace for the purchase of up to 60 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft, for an approximate investment of $13.5 billion at list price.

 

Pedro Heilbron, CEO of the airline, stated that the new agreement includes the purchase of up to 60 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft which, added to the 40 pending delivery, will allow Copa Airlines to exceed 200 aircraft in its fleet by 2034.

 

“For Copa Airlines, the signing of this agreement represents an important step in further strengthening our operations and the connectivity we provide from Panama. Through the Hub of the Americas, we have consolidated a connection center that now allows us to respond to the market with a safe, efficient, and reliable operation."

"Incorporating new aircraft will be key to continuing to expand our operations and network of destinations, thus supporting the economic development of Panama and the region, generating new jobs and growth in the tourism sector,” said Pedro Heilbron.

 

The carrier that serves approximately 80 to 89 destinations in over 30 countries, perates a modern fleet primarily consisting of Boeing 737-800 and Boeing 737 MAX 9 aircraft.
