Latest Update - Defunct Jet Airways will Operate with 30 aircrafts including 5 wide body, within 6 months of NCLAT approval !

Slots are available , but are they worthy ?

 

In a Latest update, the New owners of Defunct Indian Jet Airways reveals that it has offer of 170 pair of slots from 30 airports, when Jet airways takes to the sky again.

Company also plan to restart within 6 months of NCLAT ( National Company Law Appellate Tribunal ) approval , with 30 aircrafts that will include 5 wide body jets.

However, the concern of the Kalrock-Jalan consortium,the new owners of Jet Airways is pivoted to the demand of the slots, i.e. whether the slots are worthy of a business plan !

Expecting a favourable decision on the preferred slots, management awaits the order of the insolvency court, that will happen sometime in a week's time.

Jet Airways will operate as a Premium carrier, and it is vital to obtain the peak hour slots to make the business plan viable , believes Kalrock-Jalan management while it struggles to regain back the old slots of the carrier that has not flown since April 2019.

It is learnt that, the New Company led by Kalrock-Jalan consortium is open to the alternate slots around the peak hours within 15 minutes plus or minus criteria.

While the previous employees of the Jet Airways wait to see their carrier take off again, the new management plans to employ around 50 to 75 employees per aircraft to be a competitive business model.

Company also does not commit to take every employee onboard, while it sees the merit as prime factor for the selection from the pool.

Though it will be interesting to see the fleet plan, new management plans to retire existing 11 aircrafts with induction of new fuel efficient aircrafts on Lease.

Company is in talks with Airbus and Boeing for its Fleet expansion under 5 years plan , however it is not yet clear whether airline will stick to the Boeing737 models for domestic operations.
