Today, Mexico's Accident Investigation Board (AIB) revealed that, during the 180 degrees turn to line up to runway for departure, the Nose Landing Gear fractured, causing the nose gear strut to hit runway 22.
This is among the rare incidents of a Nose landing gear fractured at the base of the wheel axle of the inner cylinder of the NLG.
The aircraft received substantial damage, the occurrence was rated an 'accident' and is being further investigated by Mexico's AIB.
The Airbus A320-200, regd. XA-VAZ was operating flight VB-4343 from Puerto Vallarta to Monterrey (Mexico) with 127 pax. on board.
