Etihad Airways getting some competition here, as Budget airline Wizz Air launched its Tel Aviv - Abu Dhabi route this morning.
Wizz Air Abu Dhabi - the joint venture of Hungarian low cost carrier Wizz Air and the Abu Dhabi government , has set up its middle east hub in the UAE capital and is slowly expanding its routes.
Wizz Air will operate three weekly flights to Tel Aviv on an Airbus A321 in April and from next month, the airline plans to operate daily flights between Tel Aviv and Abu Dhabi.
The $28 (NIS 89) One-way fares will not include baggage and meals and is expected to offer some competition to Etihad Airways, which inaugurated its flights on the route on April 6th.
On today's flight to Tel Aviv was Wizz Air Abu Dhabi managing director Kees Van Schaik. He said, "The connection between the countries is an historic event, which creates new opportunities for travelers to fly at attractive prices, and new opportunities for the tourism industries of Abu Dhabi and Israel."
Another low cost carrier - flydubai has been operating Dubai -Tel Aviv flights since November 2020, while Emirates has a plan to start from May 19th.
After Abraham Accords on August 13, 2020, everyone wants a piece of Tel-aviv, as Bahrain 's Gulf Air has begun selling tickets for flights between Tel Aviv and Manama starting June 3rd, fares will start from $300 for a return ticket.
