Sources say, ZeroAvia's hydrogen fuel cell powered Piper PA-46-350P Malibu Mirage aircraft has crash landed near Cranfield Airport, Bedfordshire, UK.
The aircraft registered as G-HYZA has suffered major damage and the left wing has been broken away from the aircraft . Good part is, two occupants remained uninjured.
Bedfordshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said,
"All persons were accounted for and no serious injuries reported. "The aircraft crash landed in a field and the 2 people on board self extricated prior to arrival of our crew.
Reason and circumstances of the crash landing are yet to be ascertained.
The aircraft, which was the pilot project of ZeroAvia into the non-fossil fuel usage in commercial aviation, was basically a hydrogen-electric powered prototype.
ZeroAvia is part of the HyFlyer project, a U.K. government-sponsored initiative aiming to decarbonize medium-range small-passenger aircraft.
ZeroAvia, the innovator in decarbonizing commercial aviation, had secured £12.3 million (US$16.6 million) in UK Government funding through the ATI Program to deliver a breakthrough 19-seat hydrogen-electric powered aircraft that is market-ready by 2023.
