What are the frequent Aircraft issues getting reported to Airbus, as Airlines and operators start ungrounding their Fleet ?

Pandemic halted the world aviation historically. At a certain point of time, more than 80% of world's fleets went on to storage in the absence of revenue flights.

Operators and airlines across the world applied different storage programs based on the Aircraft maintenance manuals and OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) guidelines.

When situation improved, air travel started to pick up resulting in ungrounding of aircrafts, under storage programs. But everything was not smooth, operators started to see certain snags/issues /non-conformance while bringing the aircrafts back to air.

European Aerospace giant - Airbus aircrafts (across types/models) faced similar issues and registered certain common issues to the fleets .

So, what are the frequent issues, which ATA (Air Transport association) chapters , Airbus received as reports during return to service attempts by operators ?

  • Pitot cover burnt - ( ATA -34) .
  • FOD in pitot tubes - ( ATA -34).
  • Engine Oil over servicing - ( ATA -79).
  • Bleed Fault  - ( ATA -36)
  • Increase of RTO (Rejected Take off) / IFTB (In Flight Turn Back)  - ( ATA -34) .
  • APU Seized (A350) -  ( ATA - 49) .
  • Door Noise Events (A350) -  ( ATA - 52).
  • Vacuum Generator Failure -  ( ATA - 38).
  • Air Inlet Corrosion -  ( ATA - 71).
  • ACARS not disabled -  ( ATA - 46).
  • Compressor Vane (A320 – V2500) -  ( ATA - 72).
  • Fan Air Valve Corrosion - (A320neo & A380) -  ( ATA - 36).
  • Integrated Standby Instrument System (ISIS) Blank display -  ( ATA - 34).

Operators / Airlines may take benefit from these reported issues to maintain their fleet efficiently, before such events affect their revenue flights.
