Taiwan's UNI Air ATR-72-600 aircraft had to make an emergency landing in Taipei Songshan airport on Monday morning (May 10) after it lost its number 3 and 4 tyres.
UNI Air Flight B79091 took off from Taipei's Songshan Airport at around 9:30 a.m. bound for Matsu , but the aircraft lost two of its tires in the act, that forced the cockpit to stop the climb at an altitude of 10000 feet and return to Songshan Airport for an emergency landing.
According to the Civil Aeronautics Administration (CAA), while the aircraft was preparing to land at Matsu's Nangan Airport, the captain noticed that the wheels on the right landing gear appeared to have sustained damage, and he decided to return to Taipei to make an emergency landing.
The aircraft burned off the excess fuel and asked the tower to assist in guiding the landing. fire trucks were kept on alert at the scene.
About 100 minutes after departure, the aircraft made a safe landing with 74 occupants and crew unhurt. Disembarkation happened on the runway.
The Turboprop aircraft is still on the runway pending investigations, airport operations have been temporarily disrupted.

The CAA immediately dispatched personnel to the scene to inspect the aircraft and found that the No. 3 and No. 4 right wheels had ruptured, reported CNA. Songshan Airport has temporarily halted operations, as the plane is still on the runway awaiting further inspection by TTSB personnel.
