18.4 years old DHL International Airlines Boeing 767-323ERF freighter did a rejected take off (RTO) at Lahore Allama Iqbal International Airport, (LHE/OPLA) due to Left hand engine (CF6-80C2B6) failure.
The aircraft sustained multiple tyres (around six) burst on both the MLGs(main landing gear) before coming to a stop.
Aircraft with registration A9C-DHU was carrying out a freight flight #ES512 from Lahore (Pakistan) to Bahrain International Airport (BAH/OBBI), when the incident took place.
The RTO incident occurred at around 7:30PM local time when six tyres of the DHL freighter exploded during take-off at Lahore Allama Iqbal Airport. The aircraft is still stuck on the runway of the airport four hours after the incident, resulting several flight delays ; and airport administration is making every effort to resolve the matter.
The runway at Lahore Airport is likely to be cleared by 4:00AM on Friday as efforts are being made to clear the secondary runway of the Allama Iqbal International Airport.
Already Flight PK406 from Karachi to Lahore has been diverted to Islamabad Airport, while departure flight PK-305 of PIA from Lahore to Karachi has been delayed.
