Last flight of 1994 made Beluga-1 is happening now !
After serving 26.6 years to Airbus, the Beluga Super Transporteur (F-GSTA) is going to be mothballed in Bordeaux Boneyard.
A derivative of Airbus A300 series of aricrafts , rather call it Airbus A300-605ST (Beluga) , is the second aircraft in series, after Beluga Number-2 ( F-GSTB ) was stored in October 2020.
Till date, 5 such Beluga (A300-605ST) aircrafts have been made and the work started in September 1992, of which first flight took place in September 1994.
Now, BelugaXL (20% more capacity) is replacing the aging Beluga aircrafts, with two of the XL aircrafts are already in service with Airbus . The larger Beluga versions (XL) are based on the Airbus A330 aircrafts, and type designated as Airbus A330-700L.
