United Airlines Flight Attendants and United Airlines today reached an historic tentative agreement for 28,000 Flight Attendants as they have not had a raise since 2020.
The Association of Flight Attendants-CWA (AFA), which represents United's flight attendants, said the deal provides industry-leading compensation and retroactive pay.
United's cabin crews, who filed for federal mediation in 2023, were demanding a double-digit base pay increase, higher pay for time at work including time on the ground, retroactive pay, schedule flexibility and work rule improvements in their new contract.
They had authorized their union to call a strike if negotiators failed to reach an agreement.
The new agreement includes:
The locally elected leaders of the 28,000 Flight Attendants will meet May 29th and 30th to review the full details before voting to send the agreement to the members for ratification.
As per the Association of Flight Attendants, No further details of the tentative agreement will be released until the leadership concludes their review.
Association of Flight Attendants-CWA (AFA) added further:
AFA appreciates NMB mediator Michael Kelliher, who worked with the parties to reach this agreement.
The company states:
"United Airlines and the Association of Flight Attendants-CWA announced an agreement that will provide industry-leading wages and many other improvements for United's 28,000 flight attendants if ratified."
"Final contract language will be concluded in the coming days. The agreement is then subject to approval by the AFA's Master Executive Council, including all Local Presidents. If they approve, the tentative agreement will be put out for ratification by our flight attendants."
"If ratified, in addition to industry-leading pay wages, flight attendants would receive a signing bonus and many other scheduling and quality of life improvements. The new contract would become amendable in five years."
