Groundbreaking ceremony for the Gulfstream’s brand new Maintenance , Repair and Overhaul facility at Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport !

Gulfstream Aerospace Corp. and Phoenix–Mesa Gateway Airport (AZA / KIWA) celebrated the Groundbreaking ceremony of the West Coast maintenance, repair, and overhaul facility of the world’s leading private jet manufacturer.

 

Announced in September 2021 , Gulfstream Aerospace Corp. is constructing the new 225,000-square-foot maintenance, repair, and overhaul facility on part of the 100 acres that is being set aside for aeronautical development at Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport in Mesa.

The new facility represents a $70 million investment by Gulfstream and the service center will offer a broad range of services and add additional capacity for customers in the western U.S.

 

Chandler-Gilbert Community College, Arizona State University and local school districts have been involved to offer certificate, degree and training programs that will translate directly to careers at Gulfstream, that will prepare tomorrow’s workers and provide high-paying jobs in the fast-growing aerospace sector.

Sources quote , Under tight lipped missions like “Project Big Bird” and “Project Reinhold”, the city of Mesa , the Gateway Airport , the state government and Greater Phoenix Economic Council, put efforts for more than two years to make this day possible , when actually Gulfstream is opening its MRO in Arizona.

Mesa city is investing about $4 million in streets and water infrastructure around this project to settle Gulfstream in the region and bring 200 plus aerospace jobs, amid higher expectation to bring other companies to Arizona as well.

 

Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport is operated by the Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport Authority . PMGAA consists of representation from Apache Junction, Mesa, Queen Creek, Gilbert, Gila River Indian Community and Phoenix.

 

The Airport is also served by five commercial airlines offering nonstop service to more than 60 domestic and international destinations.
