Today, at around 12.30 PM , a modified Yermak aircraft of 'Alemetyevsk aeroclub' crashed in the act of take off from Poima aerodrome (900 m from the runway).
What appears to be a case of hijacking , the light aircraft crashed in the Republic of Tatarstan in the Volga area, killing both the occupants as per the security officials.
"According to preliminary data, the plane was hijacked by two individuals from the Alemetyevsk aeroclub, which operates the plane. Both of them died," the source said.
The republic’s Prosecutor’s Office told that a 51-year-old resident of the town of Bugulma was the light aircraft’s owner while those killed in the crash landing were residents of other districts.
"Those dead are a resident of Syzran and a female passenger," the Prosecutor’s Office specified.
However, the version of the plane’s hijacking is yet to be verified and exact reasons of the plane crash is being investigated.
