Bad ground handling !

 

Qantas’s much loved ‘Retro Roo’  B737 has been damaged due to in a collision with a baggage loader.

 

The B737-800 ( Registered as VH-VXQ) fuselage belly area was punctured by the baggage belt loader while aircraft was parked at a gate in the  Perth Airport today.

 


 


 

Despite the avoidable damage , that might take an week's time, Qantas has defended its controversial outsourcing of ground sevices to Menzies.

 

“We are investigating how this occurred and are working with our ground handling provider Menzies on this investigation,” the spokeswoman said in a statement. “Engineering works to repair the damage are underway.”

 



 

Qantas believes, outsourced ground handlers were no less safe in terms of safety performance, than tasks undertaken in-house.
