15.1 years old Azerbaijan based Silk Way B747- 4H6F aircraft experienced engine number-3 failure during take-off run at Hong Kong Airport on 4th July.
The crew had to reject the take off at high speed due to the engine (PW4056) failure. The aircraft vacated the runway and came to a stop on the taxi way.
12 of the Main Landing gear tires got deflated due to the immense heat generated during the RTO -braking action.
Inspection also revealed that , failed engine low pressure turbine stage blades have been damaged during the failed take off run, Which indicates a engine change is due before next flight.
Aircraft was operating under Malaysian Airlines for around 10 yers before being inducted to Silk Way in 2008.
