The State Secretary of the Ministry of Road and Transport of Mongolia Batbold Sandagdorj and Deputy Administrator of the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) of the United States Holly E. Canevari signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) on July 22.
The Letter of Intent aims to improve the security apparatus of the civil aviation industry of Mongolia, training its personnel, and starting direct flights to the USA. This will open new possibilities for the aviation industry of Mongolia and drive the integration of high standards of flight security from the U.S. to Mongolia.
Earlier, the U.S. Transportation Security Administration (TSA) and Mongolian Civil Aviation Authority (CAAM) had signed a Sensitive Security Information Agreement on April 26.
That agreement allowed the United States and Mongolia to exchange critical aviation security information. Assistant Administrator Gary Renfrow of the TSA Office of International Operations and CAAM Director General Munkhtuya Chimeddorj signed the agreement.
As per the recent LoI, the parties will continue to cooperate in making the necessary preparations to start direct flights in a short period, with further collaboration to ensure the safety and security of international flights.
The cooperation between the Civil Aviation Authority of Mongolia and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) of the USA will help Mongolia meet the requirements and standards set by the FAA.
The signing of the letter is part of the Comprehensive Strategic Dialogue between Mongolia and the U.S. and will be a significant step in elevating the relations between the two countries.
The direct flight will contribute to advancing the economic and tourism cooperation, and cultural exchanges, the Civil Aviation Authority of Mongolia reported.
