Menzies Aviation Staffs  at  Glasgow  Airport  have  accepted  a  new  one-year pay  deal  worth  an  increase  of  11 per cent  on  Basic  Pay.

Menzies Aviation Staffs at Glasgow Airport have accepted a new one-year pay deal worth an increase of 11 per cent on Basic Pay.

In an welcome news, Ground services crew employed by Menzies Aviation at Glasgow Airport have accepted a new one-year pay deal worth an increase of 11 per cent on basic pay.

 

As per the Unite - the Union , Over 200 workers including dispatchers, allocators, airside agents and controllers have accepted the Menzies Aviation pay offer by 82 per cent.

 

Last year , on 18 May,  200 workers including dispatchers, allocators, airside agents and controllers had accepted an offer by Menzies Aviation, which raised the pay of workers by up to 9.1 per cent backdated to January 2022.

 

Similarly, the current agreement will be backdated to January this year, and follows an increase on last year’s deal with Menzies which had increased basic pay by up to 9.1 per cent.

 

Unite general secretary Sharon Graham said: 

“This is an excellent deal at Menzies Aviation secured by our brilliant reps who have ensured that over 200 workers at Glasgow Airport have secured better pay, terms and conditions by being a member of Unite. 

“This further demonstrates this union’s determined work to improve wages and conditions across Scotland’s airports.”

 

Other enhancements include a rise in overtime rate to time and a half, increased holiday entitlement and the introduction of a sick pay scheme after six months service which Menzies Aviation said it would explore in May 2022.

 

Pat McIlvogue, Unite industrial officer, added: 

“Unite is delighted to have secured a fantastic deal for our members. It not only ensures our members’ pay keeps pace with living costs but the deal will see a number of other enhancements introduced including a boost to overtime rates. It’s important to say that this deal was achieved through negotiation and other companies based at Glasgow Airport could learn a thing or two from this deal.”

 

In another recent development for Menzies Aviation, the company has done the acquisition of Aircraft Services and Consulting S.A., a highly experienced company with over 20 years operating in airports across Panama.

 

Not Long before , Agility, a Kuwait-headquartered supply chain services, infrastructure and innovation company, acquired the UK-based John Menzies to combine the business with its National Aviation Services (NAS) business to offer aviation services Globally.

 

The boards of Agility and Menzies had reached an agreement March 30 on Agility’s cash offer to acquire 100 per cent of Menzies ordinary shares, which traded on the London Stock Exchange, for 608 pence a share.
