Pilots Landed on the Unassigned Runway !

In a strange incident , that was not even self reported , Pilots of a Spicejet Turboprop aircraft landed on the unassigned Runway of the Regional Belgaum Airport (IXG) , Karnataka , India on 24th October 21.

VT-SQC , a Spicejet de Havilland Dash 8-400 aircraft was performing the flight SG-3733 from Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (HYD/VOHS) , Hyderabad  to Belgaum (India) ; and ATC cleared the Aircraft to land on Belgaum's runway 26 , but on the contrary , the aircraft landed on runway 08 at 11:23 AM LT.

Post Touchdown, Pilots taxied the plane to the apron , continued with the Outgoing passengers disembarkation and embarkation for the return flight without reporting the occurrence.

After the brief transit ,they performed the return flight SG-3734 to Hyderabad without reporting the occurrence at 12.03 PM LT.

After completion of the return flight and arrival back in Hyderabad Airport, a report had been received from the airport of the Belgaum, due to which the CVR and FDR were secured for further investigation.

The Operator came FWD by de-rostering the involved Crew after confirming the fact that Belguam (IXG)  ATC had cleared the SpiceJet flight to land on runway 26 at Belgaum, however, the aircraft landed on runway 08.

Indian Regulator DGCA and India's  investigating agency Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) took the notice of the incident and further non-reporting of that, by the crew.

The AAIB reported the aircraft landed on the other end of the runway. While this is serious enough already the crew apparently committed an even bigger mistake by not reporting the occurrence and performing the return flight.

About 4 hours after that landing on the opposite end of the runway the airport operator sent their report in, but by then the CVR, storing two hours of audio, was already overwritten.
