Mexican airline Aeromexico said the fuselage of an Embraer ERJ-190LR aircraft (XA-ALW) was hit by bullets at Culiacan scheduled to fly from Culiacan, Sinaloa to Mexico City Thursday morning, though no passengers or employees were harmed in the incident.
Videos on gunfire , that forced passengers of AeroMexico flight AM165 passengers take cover at the Culiacan airport, have raised serious concerns. Airport has since closed for the day amid violence across the city.
Drug lord Ovidio Guzman, son of Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman, had been arrested in Culiacan prompting such retaliatory act in the Airport premises, also affecting a Mexican Airforce (Fuerza Aérea Mexicana) Aircraft .
