David Neeleman with his Pilots
The 'Airline man' David Neeleman's Newest venture , Breeze airways want to be a "Nice" airline , with pilots living the role of Brand ambassadors.
Thanks to the pandemic induced job cuts & furloughs , the pool is inflated and Breeze Airways wants to make most of it.
"We've really been able to be selective and get the cream of the crop," says Jan Coleman, Breeze's manager of pilot recruitment
A Business insider report says , " Breeze airways' Experienced Pilots will act as mentors trainees or observers. Apart from teaching technical aspects of flying , the pilot-Mentors will also ensure trainees to meet Breeze's values and expectations.
Qualification requirements for two types (Embraer E190/95 and Airbus A220-300) of aircrafts, Breeze airways intends to fly are similar.
Applicants are required to have a minimum log of 1,500 total Flying hours with 1,000 flying hours on fixed-wing turbine aircraft, regardless of types of aircraft they apply for.
Military pilots need to show the log of 1,000 flying hours on high-performance military aircrafts.
Pilots looking to fly the Embraer fleet, however, will have to have a type rating for the Embraer E170/E190 while Airbus applicants are not required to have an A220 type rating since the aircraft is so new, says Jan Coleman .
"I think the biggest thing is they really need to be a good leader who will really take great care of our team members and our passengers, and they've got to be nice," says Coleman.
Pilots will be expected to be on the frontlines as the airline gets off the ground and that means interacting with passengers in the terminal, making pre-departure announcements in front of passengers instead of from the cockpit, and being an overall brand ambassador.
