The Vereinigung Cockpit (VC) pilots' union , with 9,600 members at all German airlines , has called on its members at Eurowings Germany to strike on Thursday, 6 October 2022, between 00:01 and 23:59, due to failed negotiations.

Eurowings consists of two flight operations. Only flights operated by Eurowings Germany are affected by the strike call, not those operated by Eurowings Europe. Eurowings is doing everything possible to minimise the impact of the strike action on passengers.
Vereinigung Cockpit says ,
The current negotiations on the so-called collective wage agreement (MTV) at Eurowings have failed. Ten rounds of negotiations, two of them after the clear signal of the ballot, have not led to any significant rapprochement.
The central demand of the VC was the relief of the employees by means , for example, reducing the maximum flight duty times and increasing the rest periods. The current MTV has existed without any adjustments since 2015.
However, the airline expects to be able to operate around half of its normal flight programme. In addition to Eurowings Europe, the airline can also rely on partners of the Lufthansa Group. Passengers are asked to keep themselves informed about the status of their flight.
"The workload has increased significantly. The employer regularly uses up the working hours of the colleagues to the maximum permitted, which cannot be permanent," says Matthias Baier, press spokesman and board member of the Cockpit Association.
"We regret the restrictions for the passengers, but due to the lack of accommodation on the part of the Eurowings management, we currently only have the option of emphasizing our demands with a labor dispute."
Eurowings has some advisory for the Disruptions arising out of the strike , Passengers whose flight will not take place due to the strike should be informed about alternative transportation by early afternoon, Wednesday, October 5, at the latest.
Eurowings ask all passengers who have planned a Eurowings flight within the strike period to regularly check the current status of their flight before travelling to the airport at www.eurowings.com or via the Eurowings Customer App.
Air passengers who have provided their contact details will be informed of any changes by SMS or email. Passengers who have booked a flight through eurowings.com can retroactively enter their personal contact details in the „My Eurowings" section.
If any Eurowings flight is cancelled, passengers can change the booking online to an alternative Eurowings flight either before or after the planned departure time free of charge or alternatively cancel it.
Cancelled flights can also be rebooked or cancelled using an Internet-enabled mobile phone via the mobile portal, the Eurowings iPhone oder Android app.
If the booking was made on an etix® ticket number (e.g.: 220-1111111111) or if passenger has booked a Eurowings flight on the lufthansa.com website or with one of our partner airlines, please contact the Lufthansa reservations office or the corresponding airline to change the flight date.
If passengers booked their flight through an operator or travel agent, they should contact the tour operator or travel agent directly.
On further negotiations and resolution , Marcel Gröls, Chairman of the Cockpit Association says ,
"We are open to talks about how we can achieve reasonable working hours for Eurowings employees in the long term,"
"So far, however, it has not been possible to agree on a common path with the employer. It is not enough to sit at the negotiating table - you also have to be willing to find a solution and not present counter-demands as an offer."
On 31st August 22 , the pilots of Eurowings had clearly spoken out in favor of continuing to pursue the current collective bargaining path. With a turnout of just under 90%, 97.7% voted to support the wage commission.
