Lufthansa Group rebrands its Leisure Carrier 'Eurowings Discover' as ‘Discover Airlines’ and Unveils New Aircraft Livery.

Eurowings Discover brand is history now and Discover Airlines is the new name of the Lufthansa Group Subsidiary , which was only launched in 2021. The name change comes with a change in the previous brand identity, including the Livery of the Leisure Carrier.

Lufthansa Group has announced the new name and brand identity today in Frankfurt. It has already been able to present its first aircraft in the new appearance. It said,

"We’re happy to announce that Eurowings Discover is now called Discover Airlines. We first got off the ground during the pandemic as a company wholly owned by Lufthansa under the umbrella of the affiliate Eurowings brand. In the past two years, we’ve really taken off. "

"Since July 2021 we’ve been fully integrated in the Frankfurt and Munich hubs as a high-quality leisure airline. Beginning September 5, 2023, travelers will get to discover our new look – and so much more."

"We’re excited to be part of and help shape so many more unforgettable trip memories with you."

Announcing the arrival of Discover Airlines, Blue colour "discover" with a yellow dot has been revealed on an Airbus A320 aircraft with the registration D-AIUR , which was wearing the livery of "Eurowings Discover" earlier.

"In the coming year, the fleet will grow by five Airbus A320s and one Airbus A330 to a total of 28 aircraft, the airline announces. Expansion is underway in Munich in particular."

The carrier said,

"The Discover logo in lowercase letters followed by a period will remain our wordmark. This has been a core element of our brand identity from the beginning and has long held recognition value. Now, the word “Airlines” is being added to it. And the period is being given even more significance. It will round off the “skylines” element, giving it a much more distinctive character."

Bernd Bauer, CEO of Discover Airlines, said at the launch of the new website:

"We built our airline in a record time of two years, hired around 2,000 employees, added 22 aircraft to the fleet and fly to over 60 destinations around the world. The fact that we are profitable after only two years is thanks to the enormous commitment of the team."

"It now continues with the same verve. The start-up phase is behind us, and we are working on sharpening our profile and clearly positioning ourselves in the segment of higher-quality holiday and private travel. This is also reflected in our brand identity and at the same time underlines our affiliation with the Lufthansa Group."

The new design of the aircraft is inspired by colors and elements that are reminiscent of holidays and arouse wanderlust, Discover Airlines said. The different shades of blue, the so-called "skylines", pick up on the colours of the sky, the horizon and the water, while the sun and beach are reflected in yellow accents. The course of the colors is reminiscent of the view from the airplane window to the horizon or the view of the sea.

The Lufthansa subsidiary will station five short-haul aircraft in Munich. And Discover is also planning long-haul destinations from Bavaria again.

Following today's presentation of the new brand identity, all of the airline's digital presences are now being converted, with new uniforms for the crews gradually following, as well as small things such as signage at the airport. The aircraft are not repainted separately, but receive their new paint job when it is due anyway as part of a regular repainting.

The carrier in its press release said ,

"It will be possible to see this on our repainted planes, which will grace the skies starting in the first week of September. That’s when the first Airbus A320 with our new design will land in Frankfurt. In the months following, our fleet will continue to take shape and take on new colors as well. "

"And in the cabin, seat belts, pillows, headrests, and many other elements already appear in our new “skylines” colors to create a harmonious overall look. Despite the distinctive character of the new design, our connection to the core brand Lufthansa is subtly indicated by elements like the dark blue and the wordmark in the Lufthansa font."

By the end of 2024, the Discover Airlines fleet is expected to grow to 28 aircraft. The newly named Lufthansa subsidiary will station five Airbus single-aisle jets in Munich and will also serve long-haul destinations from the Bavarian capital from 2025.

Lufthansa Group wants to project the new Discover Airlines brand as the symbol of joy of travel and the discovery and rediscovery of beautiful places, experiences and moments.
