Lean & Mean Drive - ANAC, Brazil’s aviation regulator has abolished 279 outdated regulations to simplify legislation & reduce bureaucracy.
The said regulations will no more be valid from April 1, 2021. Notably, ANAC (Agência Nacional de Aviação Civil) had revoked 345 norms in the year 2020.
This is third such instance, when ANAC purges such norms as part of a review initiated last year & expected to continue throughout 2021, as per the agency.
The impact of regulation trimming on operations is negligible, & this is forward looking, where airlines & airports won’t have to take so many conflicting regulations into account anymore, that would lead to efficiency gains, much needed now, as the sector is battered by the pandemic.
In the next stage of purging, ANAC plans to simplify norms related to the airworthiness, airport infrastructure & management followed by two more stages, where operational standards, air services, and economic regulation of airports and civil aviation personnel will be in focus.
