Brazilian Palmeiras (Sociedade Esportiva Palmeiras) will make its debut of a E-190-E2 aircraft in the next round of the Brazilian Championship. They will be on a trip scheduled this Friday afternoon towards Rio de Janeiro.
The team uses the aircraft , purchased by President Leila Pereira , to the match against Fluminense, on Saturday, at 9 pm (Brasília time), in Rio de Janeiro.
Reports suggest , in 2022, Palmeiras spent almost BRL 10 million on charter flights to provide greater agility in team travel and a faster recovery for players.
After the acquisition of the new aircraft , it is estimated that the club will save between 60% and 70% of the previous bills.
The average cost for traveling to Rio Janeiro in a chartered aircraft is around R$ 200,000. Pending authorization from Brazilian Anac (National Civil Aviation Agency) to sell the aircraft , through the company Placar Linhas Aereas, the president will bear the cost of the flight, at no cost to the account of Palmeiras.
The plane had arrived in Brazil in early June, after going through customization in Portugal. The Embraer model, valued at US$ 64 million (R$ 305 million at the current quotation), has been reduced the capacity from 114 to 98 seats.
