Why is Saudia Airlines Relocating its Operations from Al-Wajh Airport to Red Sea International Airport ?

KSA's Flag bearer Saudia Airlines has announced its plans to relocate its operations from Al-Wajh Airport to the Red Sea International Airport starting on Sunday, October 29. This decision aligns with the commencement of the Al-Wajh Airport development project, which was announced by the Red Sea International Company, a venture by Red Sea Global (RSG).

RSG, the project developer behind the tourism destinations, has disclosed the inaugural project in its expanded portfolio, and the entrusted task involves the refurbishment of Al Wajh Airport (EJH), that's located at a distance of 113 Kilometers from the Red Sea International Airport , KSA .

The primary objective of this development is to modernize the airport, aligning it with international standards.

RSG plans not only to enhance the existing terminal and infrastructure but also to construct a new international terminal, the designs of which will be unveiled soon.

John Pagano, group CEO of Red Sea Global, said,

“Last year, Red Sea Global announced a growing portfolio of projects along the Red Sea coast of Saudi Arabia.

“Today I can reveal the first of those projects is to refurbish Al Wajh Airport, making it a modern airport for the people of Tabuk.

“It’s an honor to be the developer of choice for this important work, ensuring Al Wajh is ready and equipped to support the needs of the growing local community.”

To ensure a smooth transition for Saudia passengers, Red Sea International will offer complimentary frequent bus services between Al-Wajh Airport and the Red Sea International Airport. Additionally, passengers will not encounter any limitations or charges when it comes to canceling, re-issuing, or refunding their tickets.

As part of the modernization efforts at EJH, SAUDIA-operated flights will be redirected from EJH to RSI. Commencing on Oct. 29, the flights will follow a regular schedule, enhancing connectivity between RSI and RUH, Riyadh's King Abdulaziz International Airport.

Notably , Saudia Airlines will be operating four weekly flights to and from the Red Sea International Airport via Riyadh and Jeddah.

The updated flight schedule from Riyadh (RUH) to Red Sea International Airport (RSI) includes a Thursday arrival at 3:10 PM and a departure at 4:05 PM. Additionally, the existing Saturday flight will now arrive at RSI at 2:45 PM and depart at 3:35 PM, while a third Riyadh flight will land on Sundays at 8:30 AM, departing RSI at 9:25 AM Local time.
