Turkey's flag bearer Turkish Airlines carried nearly 2.4 million passengers in the month of April, as disclosed by the carrier on Tuesday.
Last month's passenger figure was 60% less compared to the pre-pandemic period in April 2019, revealed the airline data.
Passenger load factor also declined by 24.6 percentage from the same period in 2019 to a value of 58.5% this April.
However, freights were encouraging , the airline saw a 56.2% rise in the volume of cargo it carried last month -- reaching 153,798 tons.

Destination wise, the carrier added 12 new destinations from the previous year, giving it a total of 320 destinations globally.
Its also increased the number of aircrafts to 364 by the end of April 2021, that is up from 335 in April 2019.
In the first four months of 2021, Turkish Airlines' total number of passengers was around 8.7 million, down 61.4% compared to 2019.
"Cargo/Mail carried during the period of January-April 2021 increased by 26.3% to 586,022 tons from 463,989 tons in the same period of 2019," it said.
Founded in 1933, Turkish Airlines served 28 million passengers last year with a seat occupancy rate of 71% amid the coronavirus-related travel restrictions and national border closures.
