Maintenance and repair provider Aeroflot Technics, part of the Aeroflot Group, has for the first time in Russia replaced landing gear on a Boeing 777 aircraft, Aeroflot said in a statement.
The procedure was performed for the first time in Russia. The work was carried out on an Aeroflot aircraft based on a hangar complex at Sheremetyevo Airport .
Landing gear replacement is a scheduled job and is performed on Boeing 777 aircraft once every 10 years or every 20,000 flight cycles, whichever comes first. The whole complex of works was completed within two weeks in accordance with the manual for the technical operation of the aircraft.
A complete set of new struts was installed on the aircraft: a bow strut and two main struts. After completion of all procedures, the operation of the exhaust system and landing gear was checked. All control tests confirmed regular operation.
At present, the aircraft has started operating flights within Aeroflot's schedule.
Last time, Aeroflot had sent an aircraft to Iran for repairs for the first time amid international sanctions. The maintenance of the Airbus 330 of the Russian airline was carried out by the specialists of the Mahan Air.
The USA and Europe have imposed sanctions against the Russian aviation industry, which deprived Russian airlines of the opportunity to use American or European aircraft. New deliveries, as well as maintenance and insurance of all aircraft, were banned.
