Dubai Flag carrier Emirates expects to recover 70 per cent of its capacity by the winter 2021 as the airline bets on the Dubai Expo and the UAE's positive vaccination campaign to attract the transit flyers and point-to-point traffic, its chief commercial officer said.
As per Adnan Kazim, Emirates' chief operating officer, The Middle eastern airliner is ramping up capacity as it restores 85 per cent of its global network, or 120 passenger destinations, using 151 Boeing 777 aircrafts.
Emirates aircraft models in Dubai expo Livery , that has been postponed by an year.
Mr Kazim was speaking at a press conference ahead of the four-day Arabian Travel Market event that will take place at Dubai World Trade Centre from May 16.
Kazim also said the airline expects to operate around 30 to 40 Airbus A380s over the summer, more than the current active fleet.
The restoration of capacity largely depends on countries easing coronavirus restrictions and whether they permit international travel.
Unfortunately, Dubai's Emirates does not have a domestic market that can cushion against international border closures.
