Pandemic effect - One Airline's assets restructuring can be a gain for the other . In this case, Vietnam's Two airlines might go through a fleet of aircraft transactions in the near future.

 

Now, Vietnam Airlines plans to dispose off 11 of it's Airbus A321 aircrafts through an auction, as the flag bearer struggles with the financial fallout caused due to the coronavirus pandemic.

 

“Vietnam Airlines is offering to sell 11 A321CEO aircraft with manufacture serial numbers (MSN) 2255 / 2261 / 2974 / 3005 / 3013 / 3022 / 3198 / 3315 / 3355 / 3600 / 3737,” read the airline’s statement. 

 

Vietnam Airlines expects a response on the bid by June 29, 2021 as per the airline’s website. Interesting to note is , who is taking an interest in the bidding ?

 

Vietnam’s Bamboo Airways, promoted by FLC Group, is interested in purchasing the newest of the planes offered in the auction, as per the chief executive officer Dang Tat Thang.

 

“We are operating at full capacity at the moment and seeking to expand our fleet,”  as sais by Thang .

 

So , will we witness these 11 aircrafts of Vietnam Airlines being transferred to Bamboo Airways's Fleet in a domestic transaction ?

 

Earlier in the first quarter of 2021, Vietnam Airlines had reported a net loss of $215.68 million. The financial struggle is treated as the primary driver behind the airline's plan to sell the aircrafts to maintain the necessary liquidity.

 

At present, Vietnam Airlines has a fleet count of 100 aircrafts that inludes both Airbus and Boeing planes,out of which 47 aircrafts are currently grounded due to battered Travel demand induced by Pandemic.

 

The airline’s fleet consists of Airbus A321 family aircraft with 49 Airbus A321-200 and 20 Airbus A321ceo aircrafts. Vietnam Airlines' inventory also includes 15 Boeing B787 Dreamliners, 14 Airbus A350XWBs, and two regional ATR 72 Turboprop aircrafts.
