The Brazilian Aviation Regulator, National Civil Aviation Agency (Anac) announced in the early hours of Tuesday, 11, the immediate suspension of the operations of the airline Voepass on a precautionary basis.
As per the announcement, Passengers who have been affected by the cancellation of Voepass flights should contact the company or travel agency responsible for selling the ticket for the purpose of reimbursement or reaccommodation in other companies.
Voepass has been under Anac's inspection since a company plane crashed under a residential condominium in Vinhedo (SP), in August. The accident killed 62 people.
Voepass currently has six aircraft. The operation includes 15 locations with commercial flights and two with charter contracts.
Anac's decision stems from Voepass's inability to solve irregularities identified in the course of the supervision carried out by the Agency, as well as the violation of the conditions previously established for the continuity of the operation within the required safety standards.
With the occurrence of the air accident on August 9, 2024 in Vinhedo (SP), there was the implementation of an assisted inspection operation by Anac at Voepass's facilities. Agency employees were present at the company's operation and maintenance bases to verify the necessary conditions to ensure the adequate level of safety of operations.
During the assisted operation, measures such as reducing the network, increasing the ground time of the aircraft with a view to maintenance, changing administrators and executing the action plan for the correction of irregularities were required by Anac.
The press release read,
In October 2024, measures such as reducing the network, increasing the ground time of aircraft with a view to maintenance, changing administrators, and executing the action plan for the correction of irregularities were required by Anac.
During the inspection process, the agency observed degradation of the efficiency of the company's management system in relation to the monitored activities and the systematic non-compliance with the requirements, The statement read as:
"At the end of February 2025, after a new round of audits, the degradation of the efficiency of the company's management system in relation to the monitored activities and the systematic non-compliance with the requirements made by the Agency was identified," reported Anac.
In addition, the recurrence of irregularities pointed out and considered remedied by the Agency in previous surveillance and inspection actions and the lack of effectiveness of the corrective action plan were found.
As per the announcement, there was a breach of trust in relation to the company's internal processes due to evidence that Voepass's systems lost the ability to respond to the identification and correction of risks in the air operation.
Thus, Anac determined the suspension of the company's operations until the resumption of its ability to guarantee the level of safety provided for in the current regulations is evidenced.
