A Gulf Air Airbus aircraft carrying out flight to Charles de Gaulle Airport in Paris (CDG) was diverted to Erbil — Iraq , on November 22 after a crew member suffered a cardiac attack which led to his demise in the Iraqi city.
The Cockpit took the decision , following the development of medical emergency , after an hour and twenty minutes of flight at an Altitude of 34000 Feet. Aircraft made a safe landing on Runway 36 of Erbil International Airport (IATA: EBL, ICAO: ORER).
Company sources say, the flight GF19 from Bahrain (BAH) to Paris was later resumed using the same Airbus A321-253NX aircraft , registered as A9C-NE , as per the schedule.
On the unexpected development , Bahrain's national carrier said that the safety of its passengers and crew comes at the top of its priorities.
Gulf Air expressed its deepest condolences to the crewmember’s family and loved ones and thanked the flight’s passengers for their patience and understanding.
