China’s Airlines suffered 30.05 billion yuan losses in Q1 , Says Country's Aviation regulator CAAC.

Losses despite of Optimistic Travel Recovery !

 

  • Operating income was 87.88 billion yuan($13.47 billion).
  • A cumulative loss of 30.05 billion yuan.

 

 A  Civil  Aviation  Administration  of  China (CAAC) statistics  reveal that, Cinese airlines have suffered losses in the first quarter of this year, despite signs of  air travel recovery.

 

 

Airlines still incurred losses in the first quarter of this year, but the extent of their losses has narrowed compared with the same period last year, Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) said.

Data of the first quarter shows that , cumulative operating income of the airlines was 87.88 billion yuan($13.47 billion) , a year-on-year decrease of 1.1 percent, and a cumulative loss of 30.05 billion yuan , while a year-on-year decrease of 4.58 billion yuan was recorded.



Month wise losses show that,  a 10.48 billion yuan in January , followed by a loss of 11.61 billion yuan in February, and a loss of 7.96 billion yuan in March.

 

The overall recovery momentum of the industry continues to improve, but it is also facing some pressure, including some fluctuations in regional air travel demand brought by spotted COVID19 cases,  says  Bao Yi, a CAAC official . He also added that,  passenger traffic on international routes remains low, which is also a threat for its performance. 

 

The total month wise turnover from January to March recovered to 59.8% , 52.1% , and 83.7%  of the same period in 2019 , respectively, which shows an Upward trend in domestic travel recovery.
