Amid critical staff shortages , Qantas wants its senior executives and managers to work as Ground Handlers !

Qantas wants its senior executives and managers to take part in a program that could see them work as ground handlers for atleast three months , amid critical staff shortages.

Carrier’s chief operating officer sent a note to the staff saying at least 100 senior staff would be recruited under the program to assist ground handling.

The note reads,

"During your time in the contingency program, you’ll be an embedded resource within the ground handling partners."

"This means you’ll receive a roster, be scheduled to operate and be supervised and managed in the live operations by our grand handling partners."

Noteworthy is , Qantas had sacked at least 1600 baggage handlers during lockdown, with the service outsourced to contractors.

Senior executives and managers could be required to work as ground handlers for up to five days per week for three months , but , the first question is , are they willing ? , and second one , are they physically capable of doing it anyway ?
