On October 1 , 2022, Arte Concert and France Musique will broadcast an event film by Andrew Staples and Daniel Harding featuring the dreamlike ballet "The Firebird" by Igor Stravinsky. Performed by the Orchester Philharmonique de Radio France, it was produced as close as possible to an Air France Airbus A350, in the company's maintenance hangars.
During the shooting of the film in July 2021, Air France opened the doors of its hangars at Paris-Charles de Gaulle to capture extraordinary images. 80 musicians from the Orchester Philharmonique de Radio France took their places around one of the most modern aircraft in Air France's long-haul fleet.
Under the direction of Daniel Harding, renowned conductor and Air France pilot on an Airbus A320, they performed the Orchestral Suite from The Firebird, a timeless masterpiece by Igor Stravinsky.
The excellence and expertise of the two worlds linked to music and travel thus came together for the time of making this elegant and majestic film.
At the origin of the project, Daniel Harding and tenor Andrew Staples wanted to bring the music to atypical places to surprise and make it discover to as many people as possible.
Ambassador of the art of French travel and promoting culture since its creation, Air France immediately supported this initiative alongside Radio France, Arte, France Musique and the production company Camera Lucida.
Air France customers will also soon be able to see this new film on board the company's long-haul flights.
