UK-CAA says,
The UK Civil Aviation Authority is pleased to confirm that it has granted an airline Operating Licence to Aer Lingus (UK) Limited, part of the Aer Lingus Group.
This allows the company to undertake transatlantic scheduled passenger services between the United Kingdom and the United States.
Aer Lingus UK was established during 2020 and headquartered in Belfast, Northern Ireland as a United Kingdom-based airline.
Aer Lingus (UK) Plans to Launch the operation of transatlantic flights from the UK to the United States, with a direct Competition to Virgin Atlantic, and the the initial target destinations are Boston, New York JFK, and Orlando from a base at Manchester Airport.
Earlier In December 2020, the carrier applied with the United States Department of Transportation (USDOT) for a foreign air carrier permit, that got approved in March 2021.
Carrier's initial fleet plan is to transfer two Airbus A321LRs and two Airbus A330-300 aircrafts from it's parent company Aer Lingus, Ireland.
